Dry Eye Information

SYSTANE® and Contact Lens Dry Eye

Contact lens dry eye is a common problem, contributing to a significant number of patients discontinuing lens wear. However, when SYSTANE® Lubricant Eye Drops is used before lens insertion and after lens removal, studies have shown that SYSTANE® not only makes lens wear more comfortable in general, but, with continued use, can actually increase the duration of comfortable lens wear time.

Contact Lens Dry Eye

In a study of contact lens-wearing dry eye patients, the use of SYSTANE® Lubricant Eye Drops prior to lens insertion and after lens removal was shown to significantly improve comfortable wear time. It also improved the overall lens wearing experience of patients.1

Comfortable wear time significantly increased by 2 hrs on Day 7 (p < 0.0001) and by 3.1 hrs on Day 14 (p < 0.0001) compared to baseline (day 0).1

Using SYSTANE® pre- and post-contact lens wear** resulted in:

  • Significant improvement in contact lens comfort over the course of the day.1
  • Significant improvement in comfortable lens wear time compared to baseline.1
  • Significant improvement continued throughout the two weeks of the study.1
